The removal of spit 2:2 revealed that the soil colour
changed once again and so the layer designation
was changed to Layer 3. The soil in this context was still dark reddish brown (5YR 3/4).
The two limestone rocks uncovered in the previous
spit were completely exposed at the surface
of 3:1. Material culture located in this spit included
a miniature ceramic vessel (cat. 103) on the surface
of layer 3:1 and a eleven ceramic sherds (cat.
105) near one of the limestone blocks, a pottery
spread (cat. 112) over the middle section of the unit
and a hammerstone (cat. 113). Some charcoal (cat.
108) was found in the southern part of the unit, and
other flecks of charcoal were collected (cat. 109).
