There were no further features apparent at this level in Unit 5 but excavation by spit continued to uncover the varied ceramic vessels exposed in the preceding spits. The matrix at this level is the natural substrate of the site, a reddish coloured (10YR 3/6) clay. At the 2:2 level, five ceramic vessels were apparent; cat. 519 on the east side of the unit, associated with its lid (cat. 515), cat. 524 (and its lid cat. 514), the jar along the east baulk and cat. 525, the vessel in the southeast corner of the unit. It appears that cat 524 was buried after cat. 525 as the latter is damaged and missing part of its side- perhaps disturbed in the later placement of cat 524. A cylindrical vessel, labelled cat. 521, was located in the extension of the unit and cat. 520 was beneath the large quartz-rich boulder (1:1 F2) in the south baulk. Beside this vessel to the north were found some earthenware sherds (cat. 517) and a charcoal sample (cat. 527) found underneath the cylindrical jar (cat. 520) was taken for radiocarbon dating.
