There were no features apparent in 1:5 although the matrix did begin to contain large patches of red gravel. A small complete earthenware vessel (cat. 121) was apparent on the surface of the spit at 1121.36 m asl. The vessel was associated with a piece of charcoal (cat. 122) and a piece of quartz (cat. 123). Near the northwest corner of the unit a very badly preserved scatter of charcoal and burned bone was discovered at 1121.40 m asl. Another spit was excavated in Unit 2 but there were no features nor artefacts returned and the soil appeared be culturally sterile.
