The removal of 1:2 revealed a gravel feature in the
southeast corner of the unit which extended to the
west for 1.2 m. The feature, at 1121.59 m asl,
was the same colour as the rest of the matrix, reddish
brown and comprised small rough pieces of friable
sandstone mixed with clay. Most of the stone was removed
from 1:1 F1 revealing another large stone c. 50 x
20 cm and to the east of that a piece of unworked slate
(cat. 302), probably exotic. At the 1:3 level all but two
pieces of the sandstone in 1:1 F2 had been removed.
